For tonight’s competition, the theme was ‘People and Portraits’
A lesson in storytelling here – the judge entirely missed that the dog is a statue. I think I would need more of it in the frame to make that clearer.

In the second competition of the 2024/25 season, I could enter two images from different genres, as prints:
One of the earliest images I took with an SLR camera, this was taken in 2015 in the Peak District. I’ve liked it since then, and I re-developed it for this version, better capturing the sky and shadow detail.
This is a more recent image, and from a series I took this summer to share our garden. This has been a postcard mailed to Richard, and was also part of my final submission for the Discover Your Genre course I took.
I’ve joined Godalming Photographic Club this year, and these are the first two photos I have submitted into the competition programme. I compete in ‘Club’ class (the entry level). The bike race image was taken this summer at the Guildford Crits, and the flowers are from a workshop by Andy Small from around a year ago.
