Ever since bringing this website online, I’ve been on the lookout for a way to render ‘McAleely’ with a raised ‘c’ after the M. It was how I was taught to write my name, and I have been looking for ways to replicate it here. It seems the answer has been around since at least 2009, and is by using the css ‘top:’ property:
John M<span style="position: relative; font-size: 90%; top: -0.3em;">c</span>Aleely
That’s a bit involved, so I won’t be using it everywhere. There are at least some who think the usage is either archaic or for handwriting only.
Two small changes tonight:
I faked up the commit dates to reflect 2008, when I wrote the code. I then relicensed My Own TV Channel with the MIT licence, since GitHub seemed better at rendering that than the BSD licence I was previously using.
I will allow the domain myowntvchannel.net to lapse when its current term expires, sometime in 2021.
